Linoleum combined with cigar boxes | Delmenhorst's industrial heritage combined with the present | People connected by a timeless game | Upcycling combined with aesthetics

Our Exhibits

We take up Delmenhorst's industrial history with its linoleum, cigar and jute production and bring it into the present - fused in an innovative backgammon board. The permanent exhibition at the town museum presents further exciting facts about these chapters in Delmenhorst's history.

The Fisherman and the sea

Arturo Fuente - Hemingway

This dark wood cigar box originally contained the Hemingway by Arturo Fuente, which combines various Dominican tobaccos.
The taste is reminiscent of coffee and chocolate, and just as powerful as the cigars are the cool, marbled colors of this box. The understated color design captures the atmosphere of a calm morning by the sea - the old fisherman waits patiently in his boat while the morning sun gently shines on the clear water.

SurfBoard

Oscar Valladares - The Oscar

Oscar Valladares cigars are hand-rolled in Honduras and offer sweet aromas of nut and wood.

The outer shape of the box, which evokes associations with washed-up flotsam and jetsam, evokes the dreamlike scenery of a lagoon with its rounded recesses and light-colored wood. The colors reflect the sand, the spray of the surf and the depth of the ocean, transporting the viewer directly to a remote tropical beach.

Color selection:  Dive | Banana White | Curacao Petrol

La Grande Dame

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo –

Indian Summer

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo - Encore

The Perez-Carrillo Encore cigars are handmade from Nicaraguan tobaccos and offer sweet, nutty aromas that have influenced us in the design of the cigar box.

Warm autumn tones such as chestnut brown and tangerine orange combined with soft beige are reminiscent of the evening mood of a golden fall day. The curved brass fittings with black locking knob round off the unique warm-hearted character of our board.

Delmenhorst

Flor De Copan

Flor de Copan cigars, known for their mild and nutty taste, are handmade in Honduras.

The design of the Delmenhorst is inspired by the local regional history - both the linoleum industry and cigar production have a long tradition here. The linoleum inlay shines in the colors of the Delmenhorst coat of arms, and the intricately hand-carved coat of arms on the lid makes it possible to create individual linoleum prints in addition to the backgammon game.

Storm Flight

Jacob Wolff -  Jagdstaffel

This backgammon board honors the life of its namesake Jacob Wolff, a Jewish merchant, cigar manufacturer and aviator in the First World War. The design of this board reflects the dichotomy of Wolff's life - the freedom of the sky, depicted in bright blue, the steel-grey monotony of war and the olive-green uniformity.

His dream of flying and his complicated military career seem at odds with his faith and his pacifism in those challenging times.

Malibu Magic

My Father Cigars - Le Bijou

This box contained cigars of the Le Bijou variety from My Father Cigars in Nicaragua. Connoisseurs appreciate its complex aroma profile of toast, leather, pepper, coffee and cocoa.

The selected colors Cadillac Pink, Curacao Petrol and Sand Beige in the white lacquered box attract everyone's attention and remind us of the sunny charm of Malibu. The tokens in a hearty crystal look and dice in shimmering turquoise emphasize the “bijou” of this box.

King of the Jungle

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo - Allegiance

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, the “Godfather of Boutique Cigars”, created Allegiance, an exquisite cigar made from Nicaraguan and Ecuadorian tobaccos, which is characterized by its interplay of woody, peppery and creamy aromas.

The linoleum inlay in earthy colors is reminiscent of a ray of light trying to wind its way through the almost impenetrable thicket. The design of the box symbolizes this interplay of strength and suppleness - like a jaguar roaming through the Latin American jungle.
